Justice is served.

Candace and I went to the Bite of Seattle last weekend. It's one of those deals where all sorts of different area restaurants set up a stand and serve up a few dishes. It was crowded but not horribly so, as the event was all spread out among Seattle Center (under the Space Needle.) There was plenty of room to wander around and check out the music on four different stages. And the best part of that was the stage where we first saw this band:

"Vital Signs"

which was pretty funny. Be cool or be cast out? Hardly.

But then we saw this band:

"Southern Justice"

and that's when things really got nuts.

By the time they finished their guitar-jam heavy encore (one guess which song it was) the ENTIRE audience was on its feet going crazy. Except for this very large woman who would get so excited that she would attempt to do a backwards somersault, heaving her monster ass up off the grass while wiggling her fleshy, butt-white legs in the air and thrashing her mulleted head back and forth in trailer trash ecstasy.

Justice was truly served, with a side of chili cheese fries and a Big Gulp Extreme.

mo' neuevo muzik

Some stuff I've bought recently and really been enjoying:

The Killers - Hot Fuss. A Las Vegas band influenced by Duran Duran. Isn't that enough?

The Catch - After Party EP. Cute all-girl new-wavey band from Seattle. Saw them first at a lesbian bar's street party on Pride, then again opening for Hell's Belles, an AMAZING all-chick AC/DC cover band. I love girl drummers!

The Album Leaf - in a safe place. Imagine if Sigur Ros took the day off from wailing and lightened the fuck up for once.

The Helio Sequence - Love and Distance. Rockin' along with a few bleeps and bloops thrown in for good measure. Postal Service with more guitars. GREAT road trip music.

self-titled disc #1: 50 Foot Wave (the latest incarnation of Kristin Hersh)

self-titled disc #2: Mosquitos (Yo la Tengo meets Bebel Gilberto)

Salsoul Presents Disco Funk Flavas (the 12" mix of "First Time Around" by Skyy is STILL stuck in repeat)

DJ? What's a DJ?

Oh wait, I almost forgot something so good I had to buy it twice! (gave the first one away to a bartender who, in turn, comped me some really nice drinks) It's called Airflow and is a mix put together by some guy named Djamel Hammadi as the "soundtrack" to the Park Hyatt Tokyo Hotel, the same one seen in Lost in Translation. Sorry, no covers by Sausalito but quite a cool mix of music from Teddy Pendergrass to Japanpop.
